Description
Recalling both the crypt gallery and the nearby construction work on Euston Road, London, this painting transforms my wanderings into a composition of structures in intense hues. My exploration of London’s underground gallery sparked research into the anterooms of Egypt and their buried treasures, informing the piece’s aesthetics. The palette of golds, reds, and blues is inspired by Ancient Egyptian art, while the composition of structural marks is an improvised expression of the excitement involved in building an image of a crypt.
